*Sight Word Hopscotch*
First off, let me tell you something...I was so excited for my students to learn how to play sight word hop scotch and I learned two things real quick. Number one, my students didn't know how to play hopscotch...SAD teacher! Number two, they LOVED learning how to play! The hopscotch board was made to celebrate my favorite football team...GO GATORS! Before we played, I taught them the words, explained the rules, and (to add some technology) taught them how to roll a dice on my iPhone (app is called random number generator).
I laminated and taped it to the floor. I used sharpie, so I can re-use this game.
*Sight Word Bingo*
Once again, my students didn't know much about bingo, so I taught them the game first then taught them their sight words. This game was played on a Monday too, so half of the students were with my co-teacher Valentina and half were with me. In this game the students sat in a half circle with the board in the middle. The students passed a container around with circular game pieces. Each game piece had a location and on each location was a sight word. Students would take turns passing the container around, finding their word, and then reading the word. The students were so excited, which made my little friends very quiet. It was a huge success and the best part...they didn't know they were learning!!
Smiles,
Chelsea
